You should definitely fluff up a diaper before you wear it! Diapers are very strongly compressed before they’re packaged, to make them easier and cheaper to transport and mail ^^. Before you wear a diaper, you should fluff them up to bring them back to their original thickness. That’s one reason why my diapers are always so thick! But I also usually use a stuffer to make my diaper thicker. I can also recommend you to use stuffers! I use disposable stuffers, but more often reusable ones. I have a few absorbent cotton sheets, which were sold as cloth baby diapers, which I fold into a long sheet to use as a reusable stuffer. Cotton stuffers do get dirty if you pee in them, so you can soak them in water for a few hours to get rid of most pee and then wash them with your other towels at 60°C. See?
